It's OUR dayyyyyy!!
Oh yeah. You know what THAT means?
Well if you know Lizzie B at all you know it means THIS:
Get up and BOOGIE!!
Preferably dressed in holiday garb...and a retro classic wig if you have one handy. Which you should.
Now that you've got your groove on with us, we'll share a couple of our fav's about the holiday season.
First of all, it's all about decking the halls! I save Christmas cards that are sent to us each year and use festive red ribbon to tie them on the garland going up the banister. I LOVE to see the cards each year, new AND old.
One of Beth's fav holiday traditions is getting out her North Pole Village every year.
And of course, we both do a LOT of holiday baking! I mean, who doesn't? Ok, if you don't, you at least BUY some yummy holiday goodies, right?
One tradition I started when my family lived in France was baking a Buche de Noel on Christmas Eve.
But honestly, what would the holiday season be without COOKIES???
I found THIS delish recipe on Pinterest last year from Tatertots and Jello, Peppermint Whoopie Pies, YUM!
For 7 of our Lizzie B favorite Holiday Cookie recipes, click *here* or type "Cookie Countdown" in the search box at the top of the blog page.
THE ultimate Christmas cookie in Lizzie B Land is a one that has been a tradition in my family since I was little. It just wasn't Christmas if my Mom didn't whip up a batch of these tasty treats. However, they never had a name, we just referred to them as the powdery-sugar cookies...in recent years however, my sister and I named them...
And now...for the free project you've been waiting for!
A sweet Poinsettia Pincushion. Such a fun little creative gift! Fill the jar base with a little sewing kit for your quilty friends; thimble, pins, needles, small scissors.
OR...
How cute would it be filled with ribbon candy? SO festive!
Click *HERE* for the pdf download.
(of the pin cushion, not the candy! LOL.)

Favorite holiday tradition - getting a new game for Christmas and playing it with the family. Thanks for the great giveaway and pattern.
ReplyDeleteBaking cookies with my daughters. Thank you and Happy Holiday
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite traditions of course is to make waaaaaay too many cookies and treats. There used to be six of us in the house and a house full of daycare kids to eat the treats. Now we are down to just three and I still make just as many treats. And of course I eat the most of all. I need to find a new tradition.. My butt is getting too big.
ReplyDeleteWe always go to the midnight service on Christmas eve at our local church - then it's back home for mulled wine and mince pies!
ReplyDeleteWe always make tons of cookies, but we give big trays to our non-baking friends. But for several weeks in December, the kitchen looks like a bakery storefront!
ReplyDeleteWe always opened one present on christmas eve.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite tradition is writing Christmas cards. That may seem like an odd 'tradition', but it shows everyone that you are thinking of them, and it brings an envelope full of cheer to every recipient. :)

Spending Christmas Eve with my mom and our side of the family. We eat, drink, open presents. When this is all over, my husband and I go to Black Oak Casino, either win or lose $30.00 and then take a ride around the cul de sac where we live and check out all the Christmas decorating each house has. Thank you for all the lovely cookie recipes and the wonderful opportunity to win your Vogue fabric bundle. It's beginning to feel and look like Christmas.

My favorite holiday tradition is no longer going on, but when I was in my freshman year at college many, many years ago, my Mom asked me what I wanted for Christmas dinner, since I hadn't been home in 4 months. I wanted Chinese, so she made the best Chinese (-American) meal ever, and did that every year I was in college & graduate school (this was long before A Christmas Story aired). She's been gone over 20 years now, but our family still talks about that great meal. Thanks for the pattern & the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteOpening presents one by one starting with the youngest. The Adults draw names now, so mostly we watch the kids. ;)
ReplyDeleteWe have everyone over for Christmas Eve and I cook a meal to share so everyone else doesn't have to cook! We eat then get to open presents!!! What fun!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love driving around on Christmas Eve and looking at all the holiday lights displays. I think that is my favorite tradition of the season!
ReplyDeleteReading Luke 2 in front of the fire, sipping cocoa, the whole family together. Good memories! Thanks for the pincushion pattern -- wonderful project!
ReplyDeleteHI! NEAT POST!
ReplyDeleteWE ALWAYS READ THE STORY OF JESUS' BIRTH ON CHRISTMAS EVE!
THEN SNACKS+GIFTS ON CHRISTMAS MORNING!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL!

Our favorite tradition is putting up the Christmas tree. It always brings back sweet memories, and my kids have been the ones who have taken decorating to a new level. Thanks for being a part of the blog hop.
ReplyDeleteCookie baking party! Loved your boogie dance but was a little disturbed that you're not anatomically correct! Thanks for the sweet pincushion pattern and recipe.
ReplyDeleteHaha! That IS a little disturbing....not to mention our slightly different colored hands....LOL!
DeleteMy favorite tradition is just having the house filled with family more than usual during the holidays. It seems almost magical!
ReplyDeleteOut come the Christmas quilts and the decorations. Evergreens fill my kitchen crock and vases. My brass candle sticks are polished and new candles march across my mantel which this year will hold a collection of Christmas trees and the nativity. The house smells of the woods, the rush of red flows through the rooms and I plan on a day of cooking when the past surrounds me with the smells and the baking of the once a year goodies.

My most favorite tradition is visiting the same Christmas Tree Farm each year that I have myself gone to since I was born in 1959. The same family still owns the farm and is now on its 4th generation of family that runs it and my own children have also gone to that same farm since they were born. One of my boys has carried that tradition on with his own family but the other two haven't lived in our area. Another has now moved back near home recently so I'm sure he will go there with his own family now also. In the past few years we have not gone there and I've really missed it but hopefully this year we'll go since we have Grandchildren we can go with too and start them on the same thing too.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite tradition is the family dinner inclusive from my mother (the great grandma) down to my 5 little grandnieces. We love to eat dinner, then exchange presents. We usually do this around Christmas so all the parents and little ones can be at home on Christmas Day. Thanks for the fun, the project, and the giveaway. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. alternate email mlwright29(at)hotmail(dot)com
ReplyDeleteMy favorite tradition started several years ago, My niece Emily, step mom Thelma and I go out shopping one Saturday and get all of my step-mom's shopping done. Emily and I are the runners and bag carriers. We go out to lunch somewhere nice, too. Now that Em can drive and is in marching band it is hard to do, but we usually can find one Saturday to work!

My favorite Christmas tradition when my kids were little was having Christmas Eve dinner with my parents and all going to church for the Christmas Eve program. It was a wonderful time remembering the reason for the season. Thank you for the opportunity to win your beautiful fabric! Blessings!
ReplyDeleteMaking cookies with my children when they were young, now I am making them with my grandchildren. Thanks for the cute pin cushion pattern.
ReplyDeleteGetting out all the old ornaments that bring back memories of my children when they were little. Also lie to bake cookies with my children and hopefully grandson this year. thanks for the cute pattern and the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteFavorite tradition is making Marty's (DH) cookies - Ritz crackers sandwiched with peanut butter and dipped in chocolate - yummmmy - before he retired, we made over 500 each year for fellow police officers. Thanks for your generous heart and wonderful giveaway. Judy C
ReplyDeleteMy family and I make LOTS of cookies at Christmas and pass them out to family, friends, and neighbors. Everyone loves to get cookies.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite holiday tradition is attending an early candlelight service at church and then coming home for dinner.
ReplyDeleteThe Christmas gift opening is something I always look forward to especially now that we have 9 grandkids to watch. I love their innocence and joy!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite tradition is serving tortiere (meat pie) on Christmas eve. We also open one gift that night and it is always new Christmas pjs.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the lovely tutorial! My favourite Christmas tradition is that we each buy a new decoration for the tree each year, usually when we're on a weekend away, so the tree is full of memories.
ReplyDeleteOne of our favorite traditions has been making an ornament from a photo, every year. Looking back we get a lot of laughs at our younger selves, and sometimes a tear or two seeing a dear face we're missing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tutorial. My favorite holiday tradition is singing karaoke at home. haha
ReplyDeleteThanks for the pincushion pattern. My favorite tradition is our Christmas Eve service at church and family dinner afterward.

ReplyDeleteThat way they learn the gift of giving and receiving and it doesn't get lost on santa day;)

I like making Christmas cake. I might be a bit late this year but it is still going to happen.
ReplyDeleteWe always as kids opened one gift Christmas Eve and it was always P.J.s.But we loked forward to it. We did the same with our 4 girls and now they are doing the same with their children.
ReplyDeleteWe usually go to a tree farm nearby to select and cut our tree. Its great if it snows before we go to avoid the slog through the mud. Then we love to put on the Christmas music and have treats & egg nog while decorating the tree.
ReplyDeleteChristmas isn't the Christmas without my Stuffing, yummy!
ReplyDeleteI love Christmas and all its special meanings. My family always has a seafood lunch ('cause we live in the hot part of the world) and that's a tradition passed on down from my parents.
