I don't know about you, but ALL this talk about Aurifil all week has been makeing me want to SEW!
Haha...I guess that's the idea right? Has anyone finished any of the blocks? Did you know there's a flickr group you can upload pics of your squares so we can ALL see them?
Click on the link below...it'll take you JUST where you need to go.
I HAVE been sewing with Aurifil all week....just doing a little hand stitching.
Actually, a LITTLE? Ok, a LOT. I'm making about a MILLION handmade yo-yo's...
Beth and I fell in LOVE with Amy Butler's "Bloom Quilt" at market.
Made with her new line Soul Blossoms
So we decided we HAD to make it!
100 yds of fabric later and about a zillion yo-yo's....ok, maybe that's an exaggeration, but that's what it feels like! Actually, making pizza pan sized yo-yo's is strangely relaxing at the end of the day.
Especially when you use our fav thread that DOESN'T break!
But this morning I decided I need some time at the machine. So I cut out a little fabric!
Trying a little mono-chromatic experiment. Going to whip together our Take it Easy Baby quilt but in these colors. I think we might have to change the name to the Sweetheart Quilt after it's done, don't you think it'll be sweet?
I like to stitch up my pieces with this 50 wt neutral Aurifil thread. It's SEW spectacular !
Makes such perfect little seams! (Ok, the straight lines are up to you!)
So I'm going to go finish whipping this little baby up. Hopefully I'll have pics tomorrow!
But since sewing with Aurifil puts as ALL in such a happy mood.....
Let's do another GIVEAWAY today!
Shall we?
Here's what ya need to do to be entered into the drawing....answer this one question:
If you had to make a mono-chromatic quilt,
which color would you choose?
I know, HARD question, huh? How can you just pick ONE color? But remember, mono-chromatic means ALL the colors in that ONE color's range. So go ahead and pick one!
Who knows? Maybe you'll win a spool of thread that matches your fav!
*WINNERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON FRIDAY*

I would do orange. It's such a happy color. Beautiful threads and photos by the way. Can't wait to see the quilt.
ReplyDeletePurple is my favorite color.
ReplyDeleteI did one in reds - all reds go together!
ReplyDeleteI believe I'd make a monochromatic in green. :) I'm weird...I'm the girl who has always loved green.
ReplyDeleteI'd definitely go for Blue. So many shades from near purple to black to green to grey. I think the most versatile colour!
ReplyDeleteMy choice would be blue! Just love blues so much!
ReplyDeleteYellow, because my song loves yellow.
ReplyDeleteYes, hard to choose! Right now, this minute, I think I'd have to say Yellow! I'm freezing right now, and yellow sounds so warm! Love, love, love Auriful thread, and I tell everyone about it. I started using it about 2 years ago, and now won't use anything else.
ReplyDeleteI took a Color Theory class recently & picked orange as my focus color. I was shocked at how many people made comments about how they hated orange. How can you hate such a bright & cheerful color? So if I was to make a monochromatic quilt it would definitely be orange. That'll show them!!

Orange is my choice! I'm working on one at the moment.
ReplyDeleteRED! RED! or red
ReplyDeleteI'm a green girl all the way. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteThis is what is going through my head right now: blue, no, orange. Wait, red, make that green. So green it is. I think.
ReplyDeleteSue
I love the browns! Very warm color and right now in MI it is cold! Thanks for the giveaway!!!
ReplyDeleteOrange would be my choice at this moment.
ReplyDeleteI'm a greenie girl as well. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteBlue/green or Green/blue ... the color that is neither one but both and if you put blue as an accent color IT WORKS or if you put green as an accent color IT WORKS! I am still a novice quilter but have thousands of ideas & dreams and have never sewn with Aurifil thread yet ... some day, some time I will.
ReplyDeleteI do love color, but I would go with all the shades of cream/taupe. I'm hoping it would be sophisticated rather than boring.
ReplyDeleteIt is all beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThis is actually an easy question for as I am in the middle of a monochromatic quilt using blues. Your Sweetheart quilt already looks nice. You will have to show us the yo yo blooms quilt upon completion. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteI would have to chose pink!
ReplyDeleteKaren Lieberman
If I had to choose only one color for a quilt I would pick red. I like the start of the quilt you are stitching. Can't wait to see the end result.
ReplyDeleteI had to think about it for a few minutes. But I think I'd make a monochromatic quilt in purple.
ReplyDeleteI'd choose browns or aqua. :)
ReplyDeleteI didn't even finish reading the question before i knew my answer!
ReplyDeletePurple!
Thanks for the chance to win.
Orange. I've been collecting orange fabric to make my mono-chromatic quilt. Have decided on a pattern yet.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny because I always thought I would do purple. Then I started one for the MQG challenge and I'm doing blue. Specifically the carribean type blues. Go figure right?
ReplyDeleteRight now I am working on a mono in BLUE. I have an overflow of blue scraps I am trying to eliminate. BUT I would love to take the time to make something in green. I have been collecting greens for awhile waiting for inspiration.
ReplyDeleteRed, red, red! Red makes my heart sing. Red is a happy color. Aurifil thread is a happy thread. I love using it!
ReplyDeleteIf I were making it for me, I would probably pick PINK. I love pink. Bright, screamingly obnoxious pink.
ReplyDeleteOrange!!! I would love to try Aurifil thread.
ReplyDeleteBlue is my favorite color. That's what I would choose.
ReplyDeleteI would love to use blue in a monochronic quilt.
ReplyDeleteI would have to pick sage greens but I really love your colors .....hard choice!
ReplyDeleteLast Month I made a Yellow monchromatic Quilt and this month I'm doing a Violet one. Purple is my favorite color so this month has been much easier to make. Judy Laquidara has a Monchromatic Challenge each month this year that I'm participating in. I would love to try the Aurifil thread to quilt these Monochromatic quilts with. They are just toppers for now.
ReplyDeleteI love most Aurifil threads. I usually use threads that blend in for quilting, but I'm getting more confident of my quilting, and getting ready to try a contrast thread that shows. Woo hoo! Sewing fun!
ReplyDeleteWhat other color is there beside PINK.
ReplyDeleteI'll take on all PINKs -
toward the blue side or
toward the red side of the color wheel.
Just so long it is some kinda PINK ! ! !
I'm interested to see how this Wonder Aurifil works on my quarter inch seams.
Hugs,
Gerry
I would choose the creams to taupes. Or if in an adventurous mood I would choose a BRIGHT yellow color combo!
ReplyDeleteBarb
I think I would do a brown one...I have this thing for browns...even though I may be the only one!
ReplyDeleteI think I'd maybe choose red... I don't really have any in my stash, though. So maybe blue. Or green. Or no! Teal. Yes, let's go with teal.
ReplyDeleteOh wow!!! Is hard to choose a color.......but I'm soooooooooooo ready for SPRING!!! Think I would choose GREENS!! New Beginnings & all that.....fresh leaves & plants.....hmmmmmmm.
ReplyDeleteLOVE your big Yo-Yo's tooo
Thanks for chance to win!!
I would go with the reds, for sure!!
ReplyDeleteI'd have to go with blue! Love your yo-yos! But I really love that red/pink color scheme that you are stitching!
ReplyDeleteJacque in SC
quiltnsrep@yahoo.com
This is so much fun ...I would let you pick I seem to be in a box with my quilting so if you surprise me ,,I will get out of my box because I have heard so much about Aurifil thread and not very common in Alberta Canada....So wanting to try it..
ReplyDeleteI would do red too! Is pink a variation of red? I love red and pink quilts! Red is such a gorgeous color though! That Blooming quilt is quite an undertaking, good luck!
ReplyDeleteI would do blue - love blue - in all its hues!
ReplyDeleteReally interesting question - my initial answer was yellow, but once I got to thinking about it, I had to flip to grey ... I can see it anywhere from near white to near black.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the opportunity!
I would choose green because that's my son's favorite color, and I think it would turn out fabulous!
ReplyDeletesuperkyra21 (at) yahoo (dot) com
Oh, I love all colors, but I would have to go with RED, from Deep darks to hot and pinks.. there is such range.. and am I cheating going into pink?? LOL.. Red, red and more red!!
ReplyDeleteThat yoyo quilt is great. Can't wait to see yours! That's a really hard question. My favorite color is pink, and I have a lot of it. But I might have to pick green.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely pink- I just love it!!! :)
ReplyDeletesandangels1945@hotmail.com
green for me!
ReplyDeleteradiyas at gmail dot com
I love green, it reminds me a spring and there are just so many different shades to work with.
ReplyDeleteNuthin' but BLUES! I adore a two-color quilt, but a monochromatic quilt? That sounds like a great challenge. After I make the boxed bags I need to crank out, and the scarf I'm knitting my son, and, and... 0.o
ReplyDeleteThanks for the inspiration and I'm looking forward to seeing that quilt top.
Betsy Pratt
I love the colors you chose..but I would have to go with pink. :)
ReplyDeleteI would choose blue because it comes in so many varieties. And I like all of them.
ReplyDeleteI would do greens... its my favorite color and the shades can be calming or exciting.
ReplyDeleteBeen thinking about this for a few minutes and have come up with brown. You could have deep browns all the way to a light cream. If you made this out of flannels wouldn't it just be so warm and comfy on a cold night.
ReplyDeletelsandes@comcast.net
I've made one in all reds; but my favorite color is purple and I've been collecting purples to make a monochromatic quilt someday soon, lol!
ReplyDeletePam
I love almost all colors but I would love to make a monochromatic quilt in teals. That would be a really pretty quilt.
ReplyDeleteSince I've never had the opportunity to try Aurifil thread and just heard about it recently I think that I'd pick pink. Any color would be nice especially since I'm a novice. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteRed, Orange or Purple, love all of the them. Thanks for participating in the blog hop. Can't wait to see the layout and make this quilt using Aurifil thread.
ReplyDeleteI think greens go with greens go with greens. That would be my choice. Kathie L in Allentown
ReplyDeleteBlue!!! Blue! cobalt blue? oh.. blue....
ReplyDeletedid I say blue?? my fav. color!
Of course my quilt would be GREEN! I love Aurifil thread and it the only thread I use.
ReplyDeleteI think I would go for a color I love but rarely use....ORANGE! Bright oranges always make me smile because they make me think of cutting a hole on the top of an orange and squeezing it and sucking the juice out. I used to love to do this when I was little. I think you may have started me on my next project!!!
ReplyDeleteMy immediate response was green cuz I love greens, but then I pictured it in my mind :-/ Nope, too much, green is best mixed with the other colors. So, my monochromatic quilt color is brown. A soothing mix of beige, tan, caramel, milk chocolate, and espresso. Oo, oo, oo--batiks!
ReplyDeleteI would do reds, as that is my favorite color. Usually I make quilts to go with the colors in a bedroom or living room, so they are usually not red. Monochromatic reds would be just great.
ReplyDeleteWould have to be reds - I have touches of red in most of my rooms.
ReplyDeleteBlue. Definitely blue. Whenever I am using monochromatic for anything, I am always drawn to blues.

My favorite color is red, but, a blue quilt would be pretty. So many shades. It reminds me of the sky and the bluebonnets in Texas.
ReplyDeleteYellow for sure. It is so bright and cheerful.
ReplyDeletePeriwinkle blue - such a range of color and inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI would do a green quilt, but the yellow/green color, not blue/green!
ReplyDeleteHmmmm...I'd have to go with what popped in my head first and that was red! The more I consider a monochromatic project, the more the color changes!
ReplyDeleteBlue definately blue, my favorite color. Now for some blue thread.lol
ReplyDeleteI'd make a green quilt--it's that time of year when everywhere I look, I see green!
ReplyDeleteAs a lover of lime green, it just has to be green! And well, as it's the biggest pile in my stash - why not! LOL
ReplyDeleteI have to go with Orange - I don't use this color much but, I really want to make a mono-quilt using this color.
ReplyDeleteI would choose shades of blue. I love the cool feel of blues.
ReplyDeleteI would do blue, lots of soothing colors there.
ReplyDeleteReds,it would have to be reds - my favourite. Thanks very much.
ReplyDeleteBlue is my go to color, I just love it!
ReplyDeleteLooking at my stash, I am struck by how much blue I seem to have accumulated, so Blue it is!
ReplyDeleteI eventually want to make one for each color. But I would like to start with green.
ReplyDeleteThis is an easy one for me, Red. I am slowly gathering all kinds of red fabrics to make a red quilt. I love how feisty and alive red fabrics feel.
ReplyDeleteMaking a single color choice is a bit difficult on a normal day, however today it would be blue, but yesterday I bought 4 shades of oranges, sew who knows what tomorrow or next week would bring. OK Blue today and Purple tomorrow, no I already have a mono in
ReplyDeletepurple/wines.. what a question!
I would have to say green. I want spring to get here any way I can. Thanks for the giveaway and have a wonderful week.

ReplyDeleteI have been thinking about a mono-chromatic YELLOW quilt...how summery is that...I miss the sun!!! I want to lay by the pool and soak up the rays! Oh how I miss that!! I NEED IT BADLY!!
ReplyDeleteRight now I choose green. It is my current favorite color.
ReplyDeleteYellow -- all yellow. I would love it! It would even go with my bedroom which is Yellow! So bright and cheerful!
ReplyDeleteI think I would go for green.
ReplyDeleteI would go for RED!! Yes, a red one with purple running a very close second!
ReplyDeleteI would go purple! Love it. Love the chance to win the thread sampler! Thanks for the quilt blocks too!
ReplyDeleteBlue like the ocean and the sky!
ReplyDeleteBlues. More the grey blue of the sea. I love blue. It is so soothing and calming. *sigh* Thanks for asking. It makes me smile to have happy blue thoughts running through my head!
ReplyDeleteI think I would do an orange quilt.
ReplyDeleteOh dear. I can't even choose a color. My first thought was shades of gray, but that seems very dull and may be a reflection of a discouraging week. I've just finished a blue and white quilt, and am a bit tired of blues. (Again, that's probably the blahs talking.) Maybe greens? My sweetheart would opt for reds or oranges. I can't begin to choose tonight, but I will thank you for getting me thinking. :)
ReplyDeleteI would do red since I have a lot of scraps left over from a quilt top I completed years ago. Notice I said quilt top and not quilt :(
ReplyDeleteI'd like to make a quilt with all the purples for my daughter-in-law.
ReplyDeleteI would do a pink quilt. I love pink. I eventually hope to have monochromatic quilt in red, green, aqua, orange, purple, and yellow also.
ReplyDeleteBLUE of course. made one for DH for christmas a couple years ago. also one in green for DS the same year.
ReplyDeletefor me it would be blue
For me it would be blue but I could do red as well. Both are tempting me all the time.
ReplyDeleteI would definitely choose red! So many beautiful shades!
ReplyDeletebruinbr at gmail dot com
I'm visiting for the aurifil blog hop.I'd pick yellow, lots of shades from pale lemon to almost greenish tinges, it would look so summery too! Thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteI'm a blue girl - and have been trying to start that all blue quilt -- well someday.
ReplyDeleteI would choose red in honor of my mom and purple in honor of my mother in law... I can choose both, right.. :)
ReplyDeleteWould love to win some thread!
I have been collecting teal fabrics and hope to make a quilt in shades of teal someday. Even though purple is my favorite color, a teal quilt would be 'different'! :)
ReplyDeleteI love green but for a monochromatic quilt, I think it would be pink! I love Aurifil thread. I would really like to be your winner!! Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteI would definitely choose red. It's my very favorite color. Thanks for a chance to win.
ReplyDeletedefinitely green....thanks for a chance to win!
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to pick one color. I've never done a monochromatic quilt. I'm going to say yellow for springtime. I have daffodils blooming in my front yard. Yellow is such a happy, hopeful color. And Aurifil is the only thread I use. My LQS started my using it when I first learned to quilt and I've never looked back! Take care you two!
ReplyDeletePurple - I have been collecting purples for several years - I think it is about time to do more than collect.
ReplyDeleteOMG!!! Love checking out your blog! Would love to win the Aurifil threads :) hint, hint, nug, nug, :)
ReplyDeleteMy pick would be blue. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteoh it would have to be GREEN! That is - it would be green first, then maybe some coral color, then neutral one, then deep-sea blue then.... :)
ReplyDeleteI'd have to go very neutral. I think greys would be wonderful. Kind of monochromatic like black and white photography. Neat! Thanks girls! Let's get creative now!
ReplyDeleteTan would be my color of choice
ReplyDeleteI'm planning a green diamond quilt someday...
ReplyDeleteLove the fabs in your baby quilt and the yoyo quilt is so cool. I've been wanting to make a tablecloth of yoyos..just need to get started on that. I need to go look at that quilt again...that must have used a boat load of fabric in those yoyos!
RED RED RED!!!!! Yummeeeeeeee!!!!!

Ok, what's my favourite colour....i bet you can't guess!!!!! Hehehe
Now, do you think I'd love your new monochromatic quilt????? I think SO!!!!

ReplyDeleteGreen! In fact I've made this quilt. Green harmonizes with every other color - just look at nature.
ReplyDeleteI would love to make a monochromatic blue quilt. I've been really thinking about the ocean lately and the colors could really go there along with deep blues of the night.
ReplyDeleteBlue is my favorite color :)
ReplyDeleteThanks!
I'd do it in red!
ReplyDeleteTough to pick one color, but yellow is calling my name right now, to remind me that spring is on the way! Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteMy quilt would b in shades of green.....my most favorite color!
ReplyDeleteDefinately Grey...greys can be dark, light, bluish, purpish, pinkish, everything ish! thanks
ReplyDeleteI'd do it in red!
ReplyDeleteI've already got mine started! It's green!!!
ReplyDeleteI think I'll have to be a blue girl for this.
ReplyDeleteRed! I just love red - everything goes with it too!
ReplyDeleteI'd make mine red. It's my favorite color!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite colour is red - so a monochromatic quilt would have to be in all shades of red for me!

I will always go for pink before any other color. I guess I'm just a little girl who never grew up.
ReplyDelete
