I have a NOTION...


I don't know about you, but ALL this talk about Aurifil all week has been makeing me want to SEW!
Haha...I guess that's the idea right?  Has anyone finished any of the blocks?  Did you know there's a flickr group you can upload pics of your squares so we can ALL see them?

I HAVE been sewing with Aurifil all week....just doing a little hand stitching.
Actually, a LITTLE?  Ok, a LOT.  I'm making about a MILLION handmade yo-yo's...


Beth and I fell in LOVE with Amy Butler's "Bloom Quilt" at market.  
Made with her new line Soul Blossoms


So we decided we HAD to make it!
100 yds of fabric later and about a zillion yo-yo's....ok, maybe that's an exaggeration,  but that's what it feels like!  Actually, making pizza pan sized yo-yo's is strangely relaxing at the end of the day.
Especially when you use our fav thread that DOESN'T break!

But this morning I decided I need some time at the machine. So I cut out a little fabric!


Trying a little mono-chromatic experiment.  Going to whip together our Take it Easy Baby quilt but in these colors.  I think we might have to change the name to the Sweetheart Quilt after it's done, don't you think it'll be sweet?


I like to stitch up my pieces with this 50 wt neutral Aurifil thread.  It's SEW spectacular !


Makes such perfect little seams!  (Ok, the straight lines are up to you!)

So I'm going to go finish whipping this little baby up.  Hopefully I'll have pics tomorrow!
But since sewing with Aurifil puts as ALL in such a happy mood.....

    I'd definitely go for Blue. So many shades from near purple to black to green to grey. I think the most versatile colour!

    Yes, hard to choose! Right now, this minute, I think I'd have to say Yellow! I'm freezing right now, and yellow sounds so warm! Love, love, love Auriful thread, and I tell everyone about it. I started using it about 2 years ago, and now won't use anything else.

    I took a Color Theory class recently & picked orange as my focus color. I was shocked at how many people made comments about how they hated orange. How can you hate such a bright & cheerful color? So if I was to make a monochromatic quilt it would definitely be orange. That'll show them!!

    Blue/green or Green/blue ... the color that is neither one but both and if you put blue as an accent color IT WORKS or if you put green as an accent color IT WORKS! I am still a novice quilter but have thousands of ideas & dreams and have never sewn with Aurifil thread yet ... some day, some time I will.

    This is actually an easy question for as I am in the middle of a monochromatic quilt using blues. Your Sweetheart quilt already looks nice. You will have to show us the yo yo blooms quilt upon completion. Have a great day!

    If I had to choose only one color for a quilt I would pick red. I like the start of the quilt you are stitching. Can't wait to see the end result.

    It's funny because I always thought I would do purple. Then I started one for the MQG challenge and I'm doing blue. Specifically the carribean type blues. Go figure right?

    Right now I am working on a mono in BLUE. I have an overflow of blue scraps I am trying to eliminate. BUT I would love to take the time to make something in green. I have been collecting greens for awhile waiting for inspiration.

    Last Month I made a Yellow monchromatic Quilt and this month I'm doing a Violet one. Purple is my favorite color so this month has been much easier to make. Judy Laquidara has a Monchromatic Challenge each month this year that I'm participating in. I would love to try the Aurifil thread to quilt these Monochromatic quilts with. They are just toppers for now.

    I love most Aurifil threads. I usually use threads that blend in for quilting, but I'm getting more confident of my quilting, and getting ready to try a contrast thread that shows. Woo hoo! Sewing fun!

    What other color is there beside PINK.

    I'll take on all PINKs -
    toward the blue side or
    toward the red side of the color wheel.
    Just so long it is some kinda PINK ! ! !

    I'm interested to see how this Wonder Aurifil works on my quarter inch seams.

    I would choose the creams to taupes. Or if in an adventurous mood I would choose a BRIGHT yellow color combo!

    Really interesting question - my initial answer was yellow, but once I got to thinking about it, I had to flip to grey ... I can see it anywhere from near white to near black.

    Nuthin' but BLUES! I adore a two-color quilt, but a monochromatic quilt? That sounds like a great challenge. After I make the boxed bags I need to crank out, and the scarf I'm knitting my son, and, and... 0.o

    Been thinking about this for a few minutes and have come up with brown. You could have deep browns all the way to a light cream. If you made this out of flannels wouldn't it just be so warm and comfy on a cold night.

    I think I would go for a color I love but rarely use....ORANGE! Bright oranges always make me smile because they make me think of cutting a hole on the top of an orange and squeezing it and sucking the juice out. I used to love to do this when I was little. I think you may have started me on my next project!!!

    My immediate response was green cuz I love greens, but then I pictured it in my mind :-/ Nope, too much, green is best mixed with the other colors. So, my monochromatic quilt color is brown. A soothing mix of beige, tan, caramel, milk chocolate, and espresso. Oo, oo, oo--batiks!

    I would do reds, as that is my favorite color. Usually I make quilts to go with the colors in a bedroom or living room, so they are usually not red. Monochromatic reds would be just great.

    Making a single color choice is a bit difficult on a normal day, however today it would be blue, but yesterday I bought 4 shades of oranges, sew who knows what tomorrow or next week would bring. OK Blue today and Purple tomorrow, no I already have a mono in
    purple/wines.. what a question!

    Oh dear. I can't even choose a color. My first thought was shades of gray, but that seems very dull and may be a reflection of a discouraging week. I've just finished a blue and white quilt, and am a bit tired of blues. (Again, that's probably the blahs talking.) Maybe greens? My sweetheart would opt for reds or oranges. I can't begin to choose tonight, but I will thank you for getting me thinking. :)

    I have been collecting teal fabrics and hope to make a quilt in shades of teal someday. Even though purple is my favorite color, a teal quilt would be 'different'! :)

    It's hard to pick one color. I've never done a monochromatic quilt. I'm going to say yellow for springtime. I have daffodils blooming in my front yard. Yellow is such a happy, hopeful color. And Aurifil is the only thread I use. My LQS started my using it when I first learned to quilt and I've never looked back! Take care you two!

    oh it would have to be GREEN! That is - it would be green first, then maybe some coral color, then neutral one, then deep-sea blue then.... :)

    I'm planning a green diamond quilt someday...

    Love the fabs in your baby quilt and the yoyo quilt is so cool. I've been wanting to make a tablecloth of yoyos..just need to get started on that. I need to go look at that quilt again...that must have used a boat load of fabric in those yoyos!

    My colour choice would be blue.. love blues. Aurifil thread is the best.. fill your bobbin and stitch forever. Threads blend into the fabric.

    Shades of the metallic colors - copper, bronze, champagne, silver, soft golds would be my monochromatic quilt. I would of course use my Aurifil thread to pull it together. Awesome giveaway. JCnNC
