He was a very quiet, gentle man and never raised his voice to us kids, or showed many emotions. We lost touch after elementary school but then one day she ran into my Mom and got my address. My Mom didn't tell me anything! It was a complete surprise. One day I went to make his bed and saw glitter on his sheets. I found the most wonderful card under his pillow that he had made for me. I slipped it back under the pillow and this routine was repeated for days...until the special day when he came running out, all clad in his flannel pj's and presented the special card. Even with all the wrinkles and most of the glitter worn off from a week of sleeping with the card, it was the most precious gift!

Vanessa in Oklahoma
pineneedles4@yahoo.comAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4136686356316934509.post-53124238818375034082010-12-06T08:42:52.240-05:002010-12-06T08:42:52.240-05:00Each year I pack away the cards received. As I take them out and look thru them the following December, I often find that I have some cards from some people who have passed on, so I keep the card, it is the last they'll ever send me. I have cards from my Mom & Dad, older sister Carol, many relatives and friends....all hung on a wide velvet ribbon, a big bow at the top and they hang down, cascading wonderful memories.
